It Might As Well Be Spring

Spring Cleaning
You have given me a manner of days
To sort through my closet,
To dust off my psyche,
And organize my thoughts.
But my mind is clean,
My thoughts may not be neatly organized but my feelings are pure.
If you ask me to extract any reason from the heap of thingers on my bed
I will just shrug and tell you that it is not possible.
These thingers cushion my head as it falls upon its pillow
They enwrap me with comfort and warmth as I dream.
Without thingers all there is,
Well its nothing but sterile space.

Wallpaper Valentine

The glue drips and sticks to your hands
messy messy
I neatly fold my legs
I wait and wait
watching the glue dry
joining the tiny imprinted hearts with your canvas
tiny plump specks young and perfect
spattered against your walls

you wash the mess from your hands
I wait, eyes steady
watching the paper hearts shrink and harden

I pulse and panic
and unable to restrain my passion
I tear through the paper
ripping through the pink splotches piece by piece
stripping your valentine from the walls of this house.
I take the strange dots into my mouth
and I grind, and chew, and swallow
taking back my heart into my own body

leaving blank and bare the room
which was once ours

Open Monogamy?

Today I read an Article about married couples who engage in open monogamous relationships. They are not swingers per se, but every once in a while they will hook up with with some one on a business trip, or a vacation with the acknowledgement of the other partner. What I have to say about that is how does jealousy not work its way into the situation? Even with open relationships with people who are unmarried, the variable of another partner brings mixed feelings into the equation of any relationship, unbiased to the status of such relationship. Even in the article the writer acknowledged the fact that her own tryst outside of her marriage did not end well, yet the conclusion of the article was in favor of couples experimenting with this open monogamy.

Please some one get me a bear tranquilizer because right now I am myself feeling these said pangs of jealousy. It is unfair to either side of the relationship to be involved in anyone else other than the person you are "with".

but it seems to be more acceptable for men, than women to have these outside interests and sexual endeavors, why are we so quick to forgive? Is it that we as females are naturally wired to be more committed or faithful these male "counterparts". In the article it stated that we as a human species are meant to have more than one partner throughout our lifetime. It states that it goes against our nature to have one life long partner, our ancestors for instance shared food and shared sex. Have we contradicted our very nature by adhering to these structures of devotion within our relationships?

The Original Hipster

Hipsters (also referred to as scenesters) is a subculture of young adults and older teenagers with musical interests mainly in alternative rock. Hipster culture has been described as a "mutating, trans-Atlantic melting pot of styles" combining all elements of the "fringe movements of the post-world war era, including but not limited to hippie, beat, grunge, punk etc". Hipsters draw upon the "cultural stores of every ethnicity" and "regurgitates it with a winking inauthenticity". The hipster signifies the crystallization of a mediated stereotype generated to categorize marketize the indie consumer culture.
If you are looking for a prime location for hipster observation, NYU is 90% hipster so chances of stumbling upon one while anywhere in the village is quite high.
Happy Huntings!

TABOO

Why is it that tattoos, dreads, or any type of body modification art is looked down upon by the rest of society? More importantly what does our physical appearance have to do with how we perform in the professional world? It is shown that a person with a body modification has a slimmer chance of being hired for high status professions and also customer service professions. Some companies like Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando and Wal-Mart  even have written policies that ban their employees from having any visible tattoos, or extreme hair color. I myself am not permitted the freedom to have an extreme look of any kind; because in the musical theatre world you need to be a clean slate so that casting directors can look at you and mold you into the roles which they are casting for. This seems backwards to me because in an arts profession personal expression is a part of the work which you do as an artist. In any circumstance, it is my belief that there is nothing a little liquid foundation can't cover, and in reality what you look like on the outside is not a factor in how you perform in a work setting.

Here are some of the photo's which inspired me to write on this

Gettin Jiggy With Chewie

I find whenever I am feeling a bit down, there is nothing like a Star Wars dance off to make all things right in the world. So world here is a slice of happiness from yours truly

The Magic Rock (not crystal meth)

So the other night at yoga, my instructor handed me one of these big pink rocks in a bag and told me it was Himalayan Rock Salt from a mine in Canada.... as I was wondering why it wasn't called Canadian Rock Salt, he explained to me all the benefits and secret powers of this magic rock. I tuned in somewhere towards the end where he told me what to do with the secret magic Himalayan Rock Salt, so at least when I got home I knew to put it in 10-12 oz of water and then (once the rock had dissolved) put a table spoon of the magic solution into my water bottle everyday. Although my dad A) told me it was probably a smuggled drug from across the Northern boarder, and B) bet me that it would never dissolve, I was determined to unleash the magical nutritional powers of the sacred stone... but first I needed to know what I was getting into so I turned to the source of all knowledge; the internet
and this is what I found

Himalayan crystal salt is far superior to traditional iodized salt which is extremely toxic. Himalayan salt is millions of years old. It is a pure form of salt, untouched by many of the toxins and pollutants that pervade other forms of ocean salt. Himalayan Crystal Salt is salt in its native form, with all its vibrational energy intact and it helps promote a healthy balance in your body. Promoting balanced electrolytes helps to keep your body in homeostasis -- the balance of chemicals that is conducive to the body's function.

Well there you have it... from what I have also read it also gives you super strength and the ability to read minds... really

My Hero; Grandpa Mermaid

This is Grandpa Mermaid one of my personal heroes. He is a mystical creature of the deep which I was so lucky as to find at the annual mermaid parade on Coney Island this past summer. I will always remember him and his parrot. And yes he is wearing a dress.
Random fact: New York is the only state where it is legal for women to be completely topless in public... don't believe me? Check out the mermaid parade this summer

Red. Rock. Red

A Dormant longing
all still in this dull Red Rock place.
The mountains are passionless,
deceiving their hue.
I climb to the top to see
if a rush of wind
through my hair will
send me any indication that I live

All is still
my heart only murmurs,
and there doesn't seem to be much else.
Although I run,
sprint towards my life,
my heart;
the engine of my soul,
cools, and spits out
spurts of red dust.

This place so dry and cold
this place between home and home
unknown to me
asks me to engage
and I must politely refuse

and so I continue to run,
I continue to run until that dormant organ
within my blossoming chest thuds
Red.
Rock.
Red

Purple color in cauliflower is caused by the presence of the antioxidant group anthocyanins, which can also be found in red cabbage and red wine.[9] Varieties include 'Graffiti' and 'Purple Cape'. In Great Britain and southern Italy, a broccoli with tiny flower buds is sold as a vegetable under the name "purple cauliflower". It is not the same as standard cauliflower with a purple curd.

First off... what is holding up the tent??

"Real" New Yorkers hate it because it's so touristy... but I'm still am inspired whenever I'm in those lights

after a long day of running around its good to relax with a nice hot latte

My Playground

So THIS is where I should be right now... sighs New York is so beautiful in the winter... I know every native of the East Coast is cursing me right now but there is nothing so beautiful as a snow storm in New York... well a snow storm before everyone goes out and destroys the sterile construction of a fresh snowfall... after about 10:00 A.M. the pristine beauty of the perfect snow is more like disgusting brown sludgey mud-snow

St. George

This blog is what happens when you put a city girl in St. George Utah, where the rocks are pretty much the most exciting part of the town. Mere aesthetic has never really been able to hold all of my attention for longer than a millisecond... but I think I could happily spend an entire day on top of this mountain
